Why it’s Smart to “Plug into” Propane
This may not be shocking news for those of you who already use propane in your home, but just about any appliance that runs on electricity can operate much more efficiently on propane.
For starters, propane water heaters generally cost 30% less to operate than electric ones—or 60% less if you use a tankless propane water heater. And don’t forget comfort! Propane water heaters can produce about twice as much hot water as electric units–in the same amount of time. If you’re tired of your electric water heater leaving you in a cold shower, talk to our plumbing experts about your options in propane water heaters.
But don’t stop with water heaters! People are warming up to propane in many other ways too.
Most high-efficiency propane furnaces feature two-stage gas burners and variable speed motors to deliver all the warm air you need, no matter how cold it gets. That’s why, on the coldest of nights, propane-heated homes are much warmer than ones that rely solely on electric heat.
Propane is also a much more efficient fuel than electricity and as a result, better for the environment. With clean-burning propane appliances, very little fuel is wasted in the combustion process. In comparison, about two-thirds of the energy used by a power plant to generate and transmit electricity is wasted.
