Why Is Fall a Good Time to Schedule an A/C Tune-Up?
Cooler weather is on its way to Maryland, and chances are you’ll only need your air conditioner a few more weeks before you can shut it down for the season. But before your A/C starts catching some ZZZs, you might consider giving it a little TLC.
Why get preventative cooling system service in the early Fall rather than in the Spring? Here are three good reasons:
- More energy savings from the get-go – If you get your annual tune-up now, your central air or heat pump will be operating at peak efficiency right out of the gate in the Spring – not a month after the first warm day makes you turn on your home cooling system unexpectedly.
- Avoid problems caused by sitting in cold weather – A cooling system can sit idle for months in cold winter weather – which can be problematic if some parts of your A/C are worn after a long summer’s use, of if you have a refrigerant leak. By calibrating and cleaning your system in advance of the cold weather, your equipment will be prepped and ready to hibernate.
- Easier scheduling – A more practical benefit to taking care of air conditioning maintenance now is that scheduling a service appointment is much easier during this “shoulder” season, when fewer air conditioners and heating systems are in use and less service is needed. In fact, now is a great time to schedule maintenance for your heating system AND your cooling system.
The bottom line: Getting your preventive maintenance out of the way now gives you one less thing to think about when springtime comes around. We don’t know about you, but we’re all about having fewer headaches…
